Zlatan Ibrahimovic Annoyed with Wayne Rooney During Manchester United’s Match against Zorya

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was left less than impressed with Wayne Rooney’s attempts at closing down in Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Zorya on Thursday evening.

The Swede scored the winner as he got on the end of Rooney’s scuffed attempt at a shot, but United were lacklustre throughout the contest at Old Trafford.

But in the final stages of the match, Ibrahimovic was evidently frustrated with the United captain’s efforts in harassing the Zorya defence.

As the ball was played to Zorya’s centre-back, Ibrahimovic could be seen urging Rooney to close down the deep-lying central midfielder, who was likely to be the recipient of the next pass.

Sure enough, the Zorya midfielder was given the ball by his team-mate who was closed down by Ibrahimovic.
Zorya’s central midfielder receives the pass but Rooney is still seven yards away.

The central midfielder comfortably plays the ball out wide.

But as the Swede turned around, he saw Rooney around seven yards away from the opposition midfielder, who was able to easily play the ball back out wide.

Ibrahimovic just stared up to the sky and gestured half-heartedly towards the Zorya midfielder, who wasn’t closed down quickly enough by Rooney.

Chin up, Zlatan. You’ve got the first Europa League victory of the season under your belt.
