Arsenal Right Back Hector Bellerin Sent for Scans Following a Nasty Tackle in Spain Under-21 Match

Arsenal have received a fresh injury scare after Hector Bellerin picked up a knock while on international duty with the Spain Under-21 side. Bellerin, who went with Spain’s senior side to compete at Euro 2016 earlier this summer, started against San Marino on Wednesday evening but was forced off in the 88th minute of the 3-0 victory.

The Gunners full-back received a ‘nasty tackle’ to his right ankle but the severity of the injury in the dying moments at the San Marino Stadium is not yet known.

Marca suggest Bellerin has been sent for scans and the 21-year-old – and no doubt Arsene Wenger – are awaiting the results.

It’s understood the injury is not overly serious but it’s the last thing Wenger and Arsenal supporters need following injuries to first-team defenders Per Mertesacker and Gabreil Paulista in pre-season.

The right-back has made seven appearances for the north London outfit this term as the team sit third in the Premier League table.
