Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama on a five-year deal. The Kenya international departs after three seasons at St Mary’s, having arrived on the south coast from Scottish outfit Celtic in the summer of 2013.
The Kenyan star has since been a revelation in the Premier League since he moved to Southampton from Celtic in 2013. Having played under Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton, the duo know each other well and the Spurs boss will be delighted to have him on board.
Wanyama had previously been linked with bitter north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham will be ecstatic to get the deal over the line.
The fee was believed to be around £11million, which will be seen as a snip in the current market.
A Southampton statement said: “We would like to thank Victor for his time at the club and wish him well for the future.”
