Arsenal have triggered Jamie Vardy’s £22million release clause ahead of a possible move in the summer transfer window. Vardy scored 24 goals in 36 appearances for Leicester City last season as Claudio Ranieri’s side astonishingly won the Premier League, ten points ahead of their nearest rivals Arsenal.
Vardy's performances for Leicester have seen him become an integral member of the England set up and is currently preparing for the Euros beginning later next week. Wenger was watching the forward during their recent friendly against Portugal, and is keen to get the move wrapped up ahead the team's departure for this summer's tournament following Roy Hodgson's instruction that there will be no transfer talks once they arrive in France.
Arsene Wenger is desperate to bring attacking reinforcements to the Emirates after a frustrating season for the likes of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck.
Should the deal materialised, it would be a very important signing for the Gunners who were shy at goal post last season.
