The two worked together, as player and manager, at Inter Milan, in the 2008-09 season, when Ibrahimovic led the way for the club with 29 goals in all competitions and claiming Seria A title. In an interview with The Guardian, he voiced his admiration for Mourinho, the new Manchester United manager.
“ Mourinho is cool,” Ibrahimovic said. “The older they get, the cooler they get. The grey hair. The serious expression.”
As usual, he reserved the harsher side of his tongue for Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager he played under at Barcelona, unhappily, between 2009 and 2011.
“I have a good relationship with all of them [my managers],” Ibrahimovic said. “Except one.” When asked who that was, he named Guardiola.
His criticism of Guardiola has gone as far, in the past, as calling the Spaniard a “spineless coward” for his perceived treatment of Ibrahimovic at the Catalan club.
