According to the BBC, former Liverpool star Daniel Agger has decided to retire at the age of 31. After leaving the Anfield, Liverpool fans beloved defender turned down offers from Premier League and other European clubs to return to Brondby, saying he was “feeling the effects of playing regularly in a league that is as physically demanding as the Premier League”.
The contract of the 31-year-old Denmark international expired at the end of the season and Agger revealed that retiring was the best decision for him.
On his official Twitter account, the defender posted: “It’s sad, but it is the right decision to stop. I’m proud of my career.”
The Dane has made 232 apps for the Reds and scored 14 goals for the club after signing from Brondby in January 2006.
