NO GRIEZMAN FOR CHELSEA as Midfielder Signs New Five-year Deal with Atletico Madrid

The France international had been heavily linked with a summer switch to the Premier League, with Chelsea his most likely suitors, but he has instead committed his future to Atletico until 2021.

The new deal also includes a release clause of €100 million, which means any club wanting to sign the Frenchman will need to stump up £76.5m, a fee that would make him the third most expensive player in history.

‘I’m very satisfied, very happy to keep being part of this family and this project,’ Griezmann told the club’s official site after signing his new deal.

‘I want to improve every year, and the club, the coaches and my team-mates can help me to reach this goal.

The club wants to keep the level as high as possible and we have to give everything to continue growing. I hope we can keep this way and continue with this progression.

‘It’s essential to continue keeping the important players, with the coach. We’re lucky to be in this club that wants to improve and reach the top and help us keep growing.’

The likes of Chelsea and Co. should hunt further to somewhere else.....
