The 19-year-old starlet who was highly impressive during his loan spell from January 2016 to the end of the season with Real Betis is set to spend next season on loan. The Chelsea wonder-kid has earned rave reviews in his maiden campaign in Spain, terrifying defences with his pace, and had even been earmarked as a potential first-teamer under Antonio Conte.
But Chelsea’s veteran scout Piet de Visser has suggested that the Belgian teenager will be given another year in La Liga before returning to Stamford Bridge.
“We have decided to give him another campaign over there, where he had some great performances. Then he will be ready to return,” De Visser is quoted in Spanish publication AS.
“Charly made an excellent choice with Betis. We sent him on loan because he was young and inexperienced at the top level. But he is a guy who isn’t afraid of anyone.”
Betis, however, have previously said that a deal to bring Musonda back to the club is not yet assured, and Chelsea could yet decide to keep the youngster in their squad for Conte’s first campaign.
